At Big Woods Child Care, we get a lot of questions regarding our facility and programs. To answer the most common questions that we get, we have created this FAQ section for you. What Are Your Days and Hours?
We offer child care between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Big Woods is CLOSED for Major Holidays, Including:
New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, and we close at early on New Year’s Eve.
Big Woods remains open in inclement weather and does not follow school closings unless ordered by the Governor of the State of Minnesota. Big Woods may use their discretion to close in extreme and rare cases to protect the safety of the families utilizing the center and the center’s staff. Please use your best judgement when you are transporting your children in inclement weather.
What are the Staff / Child Ratios at Big Woods?
For Infants, the ratio is 1 to 4
For Toddlers, the ratio is 1 to 7.
For Preschoolers, the ratio is 1 to 10.
For Kindergarten, the ratio is 1 to 15.
For School-Age care, the ratio is 1 to 15.
Do You Offer a Multi-Child/Family Discount?
We are proud to offer a *$10 family discount when more than one child from the same family is enrolled at Big Woods.
*Discount only available to families that are enrolled full time.
What Kind of Lunch Program Does Big Woods Provide?
We include breakfast, a hot lunch and afternoon snacks for all children in our tuition rates, no extra costs. Our menus are rotational and change periodically. You will be provided with a menu when touring the center.
What is Big Woods Child Care’s Greatest Strength?
It is our highly dedicated and friendly staff that makes Big Woods a place your whole family will love! They work well together, love children and enjoy working here every day.
Can My Family Stop in at Any Time to Visit?
Absolutely! Parents are invited to visit their child(ren) at any time throughout the day.
Does Big Woods Close for School Closings or In-Service Training?
Big Woods does not follow the local school calendar and does not typically close when the local school closes due to weather. We offer one day (President’s Day) of in-service training for our staff each year.
Do You Offer Drop-In Care?
No. We strive to limit disruptions to children that are already enrolled, so we do not offer drop-in child care at our facility.
Can I Enroll My Child Part-Time?
Yes; under certain circumstances. If classroom enrollment size allows, we may be able to offer part-time enrollment for your child. They must be on a consistent schedule during the time that they are enrolled, and it cannot change from week to week (e.g., every Monday, Wednesday and Friday). We also require a 2 day minimum per week to consider your child part-time enrollment. We do not offer part-time infant care.
